Abstract

This paper shows the data of the waterbirds breeding populations in the wetlands of Fuerteventura island, regarding the breeding seasons of the years 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2012. There have been identified a total of 21 zones of interest, corresponding to 6 ravines and 15 muddy pools, dams or other wetlands. Has been identified are reproduced six breeding species of birds, distributed in the sector centre north of Fuerteventura, being Tadorna ferruginea the most numerous species, followed by Gallinula chloropus. The most relevant wetlands of the island have been Rosa de Catalina García, the dam of Los Molinos and the ravine of Río Cabras.
