Abstract

Half-cycle cutting mode and horizontal reciprocating cutting mode were employed in this study. Average depth model of single diamond was established. Segments topography was examined. Radial wear of segments was analyzed. Experimental results show that half-cycle cutting mode has advantages in heat dissipation, detritus removal, self-sharpening ability and slab flatness. The matrix tail also can be formed in the half-cycle cutting mode which can increase the retention of matrix to diamond particles. Radical wear in half-cycle cutting mode is also smaller than that in horizontal reciprocating cutting mode.
