Abstract

The SEG Advanced Modeling Project reached a milestone with completion of the simulations of 62,478 shots on the SEAM Phase I variable-density acoustic model. A further 2403 shots were simulated on the model where the free upper surface was replaced by an absorbing upper surface. For the free-surface data set, shots were located on a 150-m grid spread across the surface of the model. Traces were gathered along a square grid centered at each source. The trace spacing was 30 m across a square grid with a side of 19.8 km but extending only to the edge of the model so a maximum of 436,921 traces was collected for each shot. Quality control evaluation of all data has been completed and the traces are stored in 10:1 compressed shot gathers.
