Abstract

The deceased remain part of familial systems and in this context develop their own kind of presence and agency. Thus, they are not only the topic and reference point of pastoral grief support, but also appear in it as actual subjects. Based on one of Christoph Morgenthaler’s case histories, dimensions of a postmortal presence and identity are discussed and theologically analysed.
