Abstract

Karonda (Carissa carandas L.) is a minor fruit crop of West Bengal. Apart from fresh fruit it is utilized for false cherry making and excellent jelly can be made from this fruit. It is commercially propagated by seed but the germination percentage is low. Considering the constraints of low seed germination percentage the present trial was conducted at Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Cooch Behar,West Bengal, India during 2013. Among the different treatments maximum (40.00%) germination was observed with KNO3 at 1% followed by (38.33%) KNO3 at 2%. Control treatment provides 26.67% germination and lowest germination (20.00%) was recorded with GA3 at 1000 ppm.
