Abstract

Summary The effect was investigated of eleven seed dressings on the prevention of damping-off of pea seeds grown in soil inoculated with Pythium ultimum Trow. Eleven varieties of pea seeds were used in these tests, and overall the most successful treatments proved to be those based on dichlone and captan. These treatments also gave a significant reduction in the percentages of post-emergence infection of seedlings. Successful treatments accelerated the speed of emergence of seedlings.
