Abstract
SEED is a computer-assisted learning (CAL) package for use by students on university courses, and by seed technologists for professional updating in the workplace. It provides a supported learning environment of tutorial reinforced by multiple choice questions and exercises. This ensures that the package can be used without the support of a lecturer or trainer. CAL packages such as SEED use the flexibility and versatility of information technology, and in so doing, help to make teaching and learning more efficient, adaptable and enjoyable, thereby benefitting both students and lecturers.
