Abstract
An analysis of continental sedimentogenesis in Mesozoic rifts of the Transbaikal region and Mongolia, as well as in the Cenozoic Baikal rift zone, revealed a succession of volcanic-sedimentary formations, which constitute the sedimentary cover. The peculiar sedimentation features reflect exogenic processes that are characteristic of rift structures and the influence of deep-seated (exogenic and catagenic) sources. It is proposed to define a specific, rift, type of sedimentogenesis.
