Abstract

We surveyed security professionals to identify the most important topic areas and subjects for current and prospective security managers in their undergraduate programs. In a national sample, more than 5,600 security managers and directors were surveyed; 1,490 respondents ranked the importance of 100 subjects in 10 topical areas. Security practitioners clearly emphasized traditional (physical information, and personnel) security and business related subjects for an undergraduate program. We found some differences when we compared companies varying in type of industry, size of organization, and budget.
