Do companies think about whether their employees are adequately insured when they go on business trips? Do they think about how globalised the business world is and how uncertain conditions are in many countries nowadays? Far from it; when it comes to the way many companies view the risks their employees face during business travel, the prevailing attitude appears to be a pithy, “Nothing’s happened yet, so nothing probably will happen.” Even business travellers themselves — no matter whether it’s a senior manager or a construction worker under contract — do not seem to be aware of potential problems. The only time the topic of travel insurance arises is when it comes time to go on family holiday. According to security experts, many people seem to think they were magically protected by their employer while on business trips.
