Abstract

Internet of Things (IoT) is expressed by heterogeneous technologies at the system level in various application domains. It proposes the ability to connect billions of resources, devices and things with each other on the Internet. The formed data and devices are mainly applied to design area-centric Internet of Things (IoT) applications. These applications are not successfully interoperable with each other from a data-centric perspective. The major challenges are to reuse, exploit, combine and interpret sensor data to guide the different user or different machines in designing inter-domain IoT applications. ‘Semantic Web of Things’ (SWoT) is a current exploration area targeting to assimilate Semantic Web-based technologies with the Internet of Things. It can also be considered as a transformation of the Web of Things (WoT) by incorporating semantics. Semantic Web of Things (SWoT) targets the ability to exchange and use information among data and ontologies. In this situation, the achievement of security and privacy needs plays an elementary role. The high number of interconnected devices arises scalability, heterogeneity and several interoperability issues; hence an adjustable infrastructure is required, which can handle security threats in such type of environment. This paper represents the main research challenges and security incidents of SWoT.
