Abstract

The current standard method for validating a user's identity requires creating, remembering, and managing long, complex passwords. Moreover, most systems don't incorporate mechanisms to verify that the originally authenticated person is still the same person controlling the keyboard. DARPA's Active Authentication program seeks to address these problems by moving the focus during authentication from the password to the person using the information system.
