Abstract

The advent of rapid technological progression in today's world has paved way to a plethora of research areas in the field of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Smart Driver-less vehicles. The need for provisioning the most optimized path for vehicles is essential in time-critical scenarios and Vehicular Ad-Hoc networks (VANET) provide a scalable framework for the same. Securing the flow of information and communication resources is of utmost importance in such dynamic networks and implementing it becomes challenging due to resource constraints and its operation in open public networks. In this paper, the architecture, routing and security issues of VANETs are discussed along with simulation of security attack due to malicious nodes. We have proposed a framework using Software Defined Networking (SDN) and fog computing which shall incorporate a lightweight and semi-centralized implementation, thereby providing a solution to resource constraints and scalability issues.
