Abstract

Application of synchronization of fractional order nonlinear dynamical systems to address the problem of secure communication is the main contribution of this paper. The sensitivity to initial condition, fractional orders of derivatives and system parameters are the special features of chaotic systems, which are remarkable for secure transmission of information. A backstepping based controller is obtained for synchronization of two similar fractional order nonlinear dynamical systems in master-slave configuration. The controller obtained is divided into two parts and one part is transmitted through the communication channel whereas the other part has to be designed at the receiver end so as to obtain synchronization between master and slave system. The initial conditions, system parameters, fractional orders and the combination of master system states form a large key set which should be known prior. At the end of manuscript, results simulations are presented to demonstrate the applicability of proposed scheme.
