Abstract

1. Remembering the correlation between the secular trend of sugar consumption and secular trend of acceleration of growth pointed out in my monograph a patho-physiological hypotheses is shortly mentioned. 2. The correlation between secular changes in sugar consumption and secular changes in stature of adults is demonstrated and analysed in the example of different countries, such as Netherland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and England. At the same time an answer is given to the question why the Japanese and Italians grow taller in the USA than in their own country and why the secular increase in stature of the New-Zealanders is higher than that of Englishmen. 3. The influence of sugar also on the diseases of welfare is discussed with the purpose to show that the secular increase of stature of the modern adult may be dangerous.
