Abstract

Deformographic measurements of crustal movements are of local character. The selection of measurement areas is therefore important to obtain representative results. The search for earthquake forerunners can be most successful in mobile areas, in the zones of concentration of deformations with intensive demonstration of the changes in the character of the strain state in the crust. It is suggested to use tidal deformations to determine such areas. An analysis is given of lunar-solar tidal waves recorded at two points of the Zailiysky fault. The amplitude of tidal waves at one of the points is by 40% less than their theoretical value. The rate of secular deformation at the first point is by one order less than at the other point.
