Abstract

Abstract The Wusu Bridge is a long-span cable-stayed bridge with single pylon and single cable plane in the east end of China. In order to evaluate the wind-resistant behavior of Wusu Bridge, dynamic characteristics of the bridge in service state and longest double cantilever construction state were analyzed. The sectional model wind tunnel tests were conducted and the aerostatic force coefficient, critical wind speed of flutter vibration and vortex-inducted vibration were measured to assess the wind-resistant behavior of this bridge. The results showed that the aerodynamic characteristics and stability of flutter were good. When the damping ratio of structure took Chinese code value, the vortexinduced vibration test indicated that the distance between the rail of survey car and center line of bridge should be changed to prevent obvious vortex-inducted vibration in service and construction states.
