Abstract
This literature and patent review details advances in dermatological therapeutics over the last three years. The main advances have been in the development of novel vitamin D and vitamin A derivatives. The most exciting facet of dermatological therapeutics, the modulation of the immune responses which result in, or potentiate, inflammatory dermatoses, has unfortunately received little attention, but it is in this area that fundamental therapeutic breakthroughs will occur. The review is divided into sections on vitamin D analogues, vitamin A analogues, leukotriene B4 antagonists and miscellaneous agents for use in inflammatory and hyperproliterative skin diseases.
