Abstract
1. 1. Evidence is presented for corticosterone as the major adrenal steroid in the ground squirrel ( Citellus) based on Chromatographic behavior and crystallization data of the free and acetylated product obtained after incubation of 14C-labeled progesterone. 2. 2. A fluorometric analysis of the adrenal secretions after incubation in vitro demonstrated the expected response to ACTH by normothermic animals. 3. 3. The adrenals of hibernating animals did not respond to any level of ACTH employed.
