Abstract

The article is devoted to the content of the “secret speech” of N. S. Khrushchev “On the cult of personality and its consequences” delivered at a closed session of the 20th Congress of the Central Committee of the CPSU. When analyzing the content of the report, it was considered as a reflection of events, phenomena and processes that took place from March 1953 to February 1956 such as the struggle for power among Stalin's inner circle, Amnesty, the end of repression and rehabilitation of repressed persons, transformation in the system of state ideological propaganda, changes in the attitude of the personality of I. V. Stalin and a cautious revision of his role in the history of the party and the country.
