Abstract

Abstract In this short story with an oscillating point of view and a secret coded message, an estranged hapa daughter and her Japanese American father are about to meet for the first time in fifteen years as they retell their stories separately of moving from town to town in Michigan as drivers and passengers, a power dynamic that doubles as generational, gender, hierarchical, and positional signifiers in their own relationship.
