Abstract

Chemical investigation of the n-butanol-soluble layer of the MeOH extract of rice fermented with one endophytic fungal strain, Phomopsis sp. 11F0023, led to isolation of one new butenolide compound, namely phomobutenolide (1), together with three known compounds, ergosta-4,6,8(14),22-tetraen-3-one (2), cytochalasin H (3), and cytochalasin J (4). This strain was isolated from leaves of the species Eragrostis amabilis (L.) Wight & Arn., collected in the 19 Hectares Grassland Area, Siangshan District, Hsinchu City, Taiwan. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analyses, including 1H and 13C NMR, 2D NMR (HSQC, HMBC, COSY, and NOESY), and HR-ESI-MS.
