Abstract

In the previous chapter we saw that the first-order wave function and the first-order energy can be represented in terms of diagrams. We would now like to extend our treatment to higher orders in the perturbation. Before treating higher-order effects, however, we shall introduce the formalism of second quantization. In order to see the need for this new formalism, we consider the first-order wave function (10.15) Open image in new window .
