Abstract
A recursive least square algorithm is described. The algorithm is shown to be capable of identifying from measured data in real time the five parameters characterizing the thermal response of a building in terms of a second-order RC network. It is suggested that the algorithm establishes a basis for integrating building thermal response modelling with building energy management systems (BEMS). Results from the new work are found to be consistent with parameters identified using the computationally more expensive batch procedure reported previously.
