Abstract

The temperature dependence and the polarization character of the second-order Raman spectra have been studied in LiI single crystals. The principal phonon energies of acoustic and optic modes at critical points in the Brillouin zone are determined with a help of calculated phonon dispersion curves. The second-order Raman spectra at 290 K in LiBr, LiCl and LiF crystals are also observed and analyzed. A characteristic feature of lattice dynamics in lithium halides is discussed.
