Abstract

ABSTRACT Model of second-order (SO) adsorption kinetics from solutions was described and verified for the adsorption of phenol/lead (II) on samples of natural coal and activated carbon. The model was compared with the model of pseudo-second-order (PSO) kinetics, proving that the SO kinetics satisfactorily describes particularly the initial stage of the adsorption process, while the PSO model fits well with the experimental data up to the adsorption equilibrium. Possible reason for such different fit of the models for second and pseudo-second-order kinetics to adsorption data is elucidated.
