Abstract

As compact, solid-state sources for blue coherent light, laser diode-based second harmonic generation (SHG) devices are greatly expected to be useful in high density optical memory, laser printers and so on. SHG in waveguide can realize a high conversion efficiency, because of its strong confinement. This paper describes recently reported SHG in a waveguide, including Cherenkov and quasi-phase matching.
