Second field high-resolution HLA typing for immunologic risk stratification in kidney transplantation

Abstract

Studies utilizing inferred second field high-resolution (2F-HR) HLA genotypes showed that risk stratification in kidney transplantation can be better assessed at the HLA molecular mismatch level than using the standard antigen mismatch approach. However, we and others recently demonstrated the imprecision of the current tools for inference of 2F-HR HLA genotypes from lower resolution typing, most importantly for HLA class II.
