Abstract

This article is the product of the weirdness of the glance of somebody of out on a religious popular part}’ in the south of Bahia, more precisely the party of Sao Sebastiao of Trancoso. It is a text that treats of the relationship between the picture and the photographed object tends the religious rite as event to be revealed. They are Sebastiao is not the saint entertainer, usually commemorated with the Christian rites of the martyr, that that it is not evoked by other religions passed in front of me wrapped by the samba and for the beat of the capoeira to the taste of the rites skeptic of Bahia. They were these unexpected images that you/they made to follow me a procession that is marked by the pain in Rio de Janeiro and for the contrition. As much the party of Trancoso as for of Rio de Janeiro they are homages to the saint patron, the two have the function of demonstrating the followers' fervor and the pledge of the devotees. In Trancoso the entrance in the cult feels through the euphoria and expansion of cultural values that you/they are mixed in the day by day. In Rio de Janeiro the party belongs to the official Church and their participants should know the codes of conduct dictated by the Catholicism. It is this cultural specificity that the picture captured and he/she translated in the revelation of a same religious fact.
