Abstract
The reproductive periodicity of Ophiura albida Forbes and Ophiura texturata Lamarck was examined over a 24-month period. Ophiura albida had a simple 12-month periodicity whereas that of the closely related Ophiura texturata was more complex. The ecological relevance of this difference in two apparently closely related species is discussed.
