Total number of flies collected was 21,412 of Calliphoridae and 884 of Sarcophagidae, covering 19 species. The occurrence of fiies in different zones in the city was directly related 10 the quantity and .quality of available breeding media. In all cases females were greater in number than the corresponding males caught in fish-baited traps. Chrysomyia nzegacephala was the dominant species in all sites in aU seasons and C. rujifacles, Lucilia cuprina, Hemipyrellia ligurriens, Parasarcophaga misera, P. ruficornis and P. perigrina were abundant in the city.
