Abstract
The functioning of rural social organisation is affected by seasonality. The nature of this effect depends on the degree to which the organisation is related to the agricultural production cycle and the degree to which it has access to outside resources such as funds or personnel. Organisations can be characterised as continuous, seasonally fluctuating continuous, seasonally‐functional, or episodic depending on the strength of seasonal effects.
