Abstract
Video recordings could be of great value in the Social Sciences for the systematic observation and analysis of visible human behavior, provided that the obtained data is measurable and quantifiable. For this purpose, appropriate technology is essential. Furthermore, it is of great importance for the interest of the scientific community as a whole that the technology developed is particularly user-friendly, so as to be accessable to non-specialists who are frequently involved in the research process. Thus the work described below focuses on the conceptualization and creation of a user-friendly video analysis tool, which aims at providing a basis for the precise analysis of human behavior and serve the search for Critical Incidents. After brief comments on the challenges related to the systematic observation of human behavior, this contribution presents an overview of the development of the tool.
