Abstract
A new search strategy for partial distortion elimination (PDE) in motion estimation is proposed, which allows the minimum matching error to be detected faster such that impossible candidates can be rejected sooner and the remaining computation involved in matching criterion can be reduced remarkably. Simulation results show that the new algorithm has a significant computational speed-up without introducing any loss in predicted image when compared to conventional PDE.
