Abstract

Influence of alcohol extracts from IO plants on the reproductive function was studied in IX0 mature female rats with body weight of IRO-200 g and normal estrus cycle and on female rabbits with body weight of 3-3.5 kg. ‘Test preparations were introduced into the rats in a dose of 30 mg/kg daily for 7-10 day period and more till proestrus stage and into rabbits in the sdme dosage for 7 days. Ovulation was induced in rats by intravenous injection of 1.2% copper acetate solution (7 mglkg). In 24 hours the animals were sacrificed under mild ether anesthesia, ovaries were removed and the number of ovulated follicles was registered. It was found that only 3 of IO plants tested produced marked stimulator): effect on the reproduction function. Thus. Dracocephalum increased the numbat of oocytes: in rats front 10,6+0.5 (control) to 15.8+0.3 (test): in rabbits from 10.0+0,7 (control) to 14.6+1 .O ovulated follicles in the experiment. Preparation of Aralia mandshurica increased the number of oocytes removed from oviducts: 10,2+t>.X in control: 13.5+0.6 (~~0.05) in the experiment. The number of ovulated follicles was 9.6+0,5 in control: l2.1+0.7 in the experiment. Drawcephalum. Aralia mand~hurica and I .ithospermum e+hrorhixon increased ovaries mass in test rats. rose gonadotropins level, especially that of follitropin, in blood serum. Prolonged infusion of Dracoccphalum and Aralia mandshurica prcpnrations significantly incrcsscd the numbet of offspring and improved postnatal development in rat> and rabbits. The obtained results suggest that preparations of Dracocephalum, Aralia mandshurica and Lithospetmum produce stimulatory effect on the reproductive function.
