Abstract

The longitudinal polarization of β-rays emitted in the transition 81Tl 207 → 82Pb 207 ( 1 2 + → 1 2 − ) was measured by double Coulomb scattering. The result obtained was P 0 { 81Tl 207} = (1.04±0.25) ( − v c ). Assuming two-component neutrino theory with a left-handed neutrino and C s = C T = 0, this result indicates that pseudoscalar interaction gives only a small contribution, if any, to β-decay.
