Abstract

Lepton Flavor Violation (LFV) has never been observed in the charged lepton sector, and an observation of such process would give a clear signature of physics beyond the Standard Model. The BaBar experiment during its running produced one of the largest data samples of τ leptons, recording more than 960 × 10 6 τ decays, making it possible to reach unprecedented sensitivities in the search for rare decays in the τ sector. In this paper we will present the latest results obtained by BaBar collaboration for the searches of LFV in τ → ℓ γ and τ → ℓ ℓ ℓ channels, based on samples of 515 fb − 1 and 468 fb − 1 respectively.
