Abstract

This study is devoted to the search for Elinvar behaviour through a recently discovered mechanism in Ti-22Nb-6Zr alloy in other titanium alloys. The study concludes that the stable β Ti-50Nb exhibits the intrinsic Elastic behaviour in two narrow temperature ranges RT ↔ 180 °C and 370 ↔ 550 °C, separated by a non-Elinvar temperature range. While in the B2-ordered Ti-50.0Ni and β Ti-15Nb-18Zr shape memory alloys such intrinsic Elinvar behaviour was not observed. The search for alloys with intrinsic Elinvar behaviour is of scientific interest because it opens up a new area for the search for elastic behaviour and is also of practical interest since these alloys can be used to produce high-temperature elastic components.
