Abstract

Gluon saturation effects are expected to occur at small parton momentum fraction Bjorken- x , affecting particle production in heavy ion collisions. In these proceedings, we focus on quarkonium production in the forward rapidity region in p-Pb collisions as a tool to search for saturation effects. We describe a model based on the Color Glass Condensate framework that allows to predict the modification of quarkonium production between p-p and p-Pb collisions. In addition, a model including shadowing, the modification of the parton densities in nuclei relative to the nucleon, will be described. The results from both models are compared. Finally we will discuss some aspects of the detection performance of the ALICE Forward Muon Spectrometer and we will present the perspectives in terms of expected statistics for the forthcoming p-Pb collisions.
