Klein, MD, became the third editor of the RSNA journal RadioGraphics since its inception in 1981. During his tenure, he has ably followed in the footsteps of founding editor William J. Tuddenham, MD, and his immediate predecessor William W. Olmsted, MD, all the while keeping pace with changes in the fields of radiology, medical publishing, and education. In his first official editorial, Dr Klein quoted Benjamin Disraeli, “One secret of success in life is for a man to be ready for his opportunity when it comes.” In this, he anticipated his own role as Editor, using every opportunity to improve the journal and deliver the best content to readers of RadioGraphics.Dr Klein will be stepping down from his position as Editor on December 31, 2020. However, his legacy will live on. In launching a search to identify his successor, the RSNA will look to build on his many accomplishments through the efforts of a new Editor beginning in January 2021.Dr Klein has been a strong advocate for the mission of RadioGraphics: to publish the best in peer-reviewed educational material, emphasizing that presented at the annual meeting of the RSNA, for radiologists, trainees, physicists, and other radiologic professionals. His dedication to providing high quality, accessible CME has led to many innovations, including transitioning the CME tests to an online, mobile-friendly platform. He has surpassed his original goal of “develop[ing] novel methods to engage physicians in a process that better assesses their deficiencies and helps each individual practitioner tailor an individualized program that best suits their specific professional goals.”Many of these new methods have been directed at members-in-training: the ABR Core Exam Blueprints Article Index, RadioGraphics Fundamentals powerpoint slides for teaching, the AAPM Physics Curriculum Article Index, and an 18-month peer review mentoring program that transitions senior trainees into subspecialty referees. Dr Klein has also enhanced the journal by highlighting content in podcasts and on social media and by incorporating the Image Viewer, which enables readers to view DICOM image stacks as they do in the clinic. The following summarizes the position description for the Editor of RadioGraphics:The editor is responsible for developing the overall educational mission and editorial policies for the journal, soliciting high-quality educational manuscripts, developing policies and processes for and conducting peer review, releasing manuscripts on a timely basis for publication, and cooperating with the RSNA Board of Directors and staff in maintaining fiscal responsibility. The editor is expected to spend 60% of his or her time on RadioGraphics. The full job description can be found at rsna.org/radiographics-editor.Assisting the Board of Directors in finding a new editor will be a search committee chaired by Matthew A. Mauro, MD, Board Liaison for Education. The committee members are Vijay M. Rao, MD, Donald Flemming, MD, Mindy Horrow, MD, Judith Amorosa, MD, Jocelyn Chertoff, MD, and J.D. Wylie, MD.Plans call for the new Editor to be selected in September 2019, become the Editor-designate July 1, 2020, and become the Editor on the RadioGraphics masthead in January 2021. Interested physicians are invited to email their curricula vitae, cover letters, and vision statements to Dr Mauro at [email protected]org. The RSNA would like the search to be as broad and inclusive as possible. All expressions of interest are encouraged. The deadline for receipt of submissions is May 1, 2019.Article HistoryPublished online: Jan 28 2019Published in print: Mar 2019 FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsRecommended Articles Search for a New EditorRadioGraphics2019Volume: 39Issue: 2pp. 305Search for a New Radiology EditorRadioGraphics2021Volume: 41Issue: 2pp. E63Congratulations to the 2018 RSNA Outstanding Educator: David M.
