Abstract

Today's 5G is rapidly evolving and the control/user (C/U) plane separation based architecture is one of the hot technologies for 5G. It is inevitable to apply 5G in High-Speed Rail (HSR), but currently, 5G in HSR environment is still evolving from NSA to SA architecture because 5G in China is still vigorously promoted. The current 5G in HSR has problems such as frequent handover, untimely handover, and dropped connections. To reduce the cost, we design a seamless 5G handover scheme based on C/U plane separation and beamforming. The handover trigger conditions are designed, and the handover judgment is made according to the received signal strength. At the same time, the dual antenna structure ensures that the rear antenna ensures the normal communication link when the front antenna is handed over and the beamforming technique improves the success rate of handover. The simulation results show that the solution can effectively improve the handover success rate and achieve seamless handover.
