Abstract

SEAM Phase I-RPSEA is nearing the completion of its work. The project was initiated with the goal of building and conducting simulations on an acoustic model for a deep-water resource that is based on what might be found in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. With support from the Research Partnership to Secure Energy for America (RPSEA) (Subcontract no. 07121-2001 under US DOE prime contract no. DE-AC 26-07NT42677) and the SEAM Phase I industrial participants, other geophysical parameters have been subsequently defined for the model and several additional surveys have been simulated on the model. We are now reaching the conclusion of our work. Surveys conducted to date include: variable density acoustic, variable density acoustic with an absorbing upper surface, gravity, controlled-source electromagnetic, tilted transverse isotropy acoustic, elastic, and magnetotelluric.
