Abstract
Brian Ellis, European Sealing Association, Lancaster, UK In the June 2002 issue of Sealing Technology, Brian Ellis provided an outline of the many aspects of environmental legislation within the EU, and highlighted the concern surrounding the proposed best available technique reference (BREF) notes. In this article he provides an update on the considerable effort that the ESA has made in formulating a BREF note for sealing technology that will be applicable to the industrial sectors covered by the Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) regime.
