Abstract

A distributed mobility management (DMM) scheme has been proposed to solve problems of centralized mobility management such as dynamic routing and IP address allocation. However, centralized mobility management schemes cause many signaling message costs for supporting mobility management. Therefore, in this paper, we applied the software defined network (SDN) concept to DMM architecture to support efficient mobility management and to solve existing problems in centralized mobility schemes. In our proposed scheme, we define a new mobility management entity for reducing tunneling overhead supporting route optimization. To evaluate the proposed management scheme, we establish an analytical model and formulate signaling and packet-delivery costs.
