Abstract
This column is neither an endorsement or criticism of any form of aqueous cleaning technology. Rather, it is an attempt to use experience in scuba diving to point out how to best produce the cleanest surfaces. Part characteristics, available investment or floor space, environmental concerns, etc. may dictate other choices. But they will produce compromise between practicality and the cleanest possible surface.
