Abstract

This work discuss the screw type of liquid (irrigation water) motion in a cylindrical coarse filter of a sprinkler machine. A vortex helical flow arises due to the instability of a rectilinear longitudinally uniform flow and uneven distribution of tangential stresses along the wetted perimeter of the cross section of the flow and manifests itself in the form of secondary flows of transverse circulation. The solution of the equations of motion in the gap "mesh - housing" of the filter, expressed in terms of the Bessel function, is obtained. Profiles of longitudinal and rotational velocities in the gap and in the entire filter have been constructed.
