Abstract

Screw dislocations near a slant edge crack in a semi-infinite, isotropic medium under remote mode III loading are investigated. Based on Schwarz–Christoffel transformation, the system is mapped to the simple case of a screw dislocation near free surface under applied loading, for which the solution is known. The complex potential, stress field, stress intensity factor, dislocation image force and strain energy, and dislocation emission criterion are derived. The effects of crack length and crack angle parameter on these mechanical parameters are studied.
