Abstract

Objective: The aim of this work is was to develop a screening tool for detect learning disorders according to criteria of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder, Fifth Edition (DSM-V) (2013). Methods: The methodology used was using 43 items to children with tests easy to understand in the daily life. In the study, we evaluated (Likert scale). The instrument was applied to 477 parents and 18 teachers from a primary school in the Metropolitan Area of Mexico City. Results: The results showed a Cronbach alpha reliability index of 0.95 and 0.93 in teachers and parents respectively, indicating high internal consistency. Conclusion: In conclusion, we demonstrated that the instrument with all its items showed a high internal consistency, for detection of learning disorders in school-age children. Our data will be used for at a later stage of the analysis, a complementary neuropsychological evaluation of children that the scale indicates with suspicion of the disorder and the children without suspicion of the disorder, to confirm the corresponding diagnosis and to give a criterion validity.
