Abstract

Fifty seven genotypes of rainy season mungbean were screened against whitefly, Bemisia tabaci and Mungbean Yellow Mosaic Virus (MYMV) in the field for four years (2002-05). Two genotypes ML 1265 and ML 1229 were found promising as compared to other genotypes, standard checks ML 5, ML 267, ML 613 and SML 668 and the ‘Infester’. These genotypes have been identified as ‘resistant-donors’ against B. tabaci and the virus and are being used in breeding programme to grow high yielding insect resistant varieties.
