Abstract

Rice blast caused by Magnapor the oryzae and bacterial leaf blight (BLB) caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae are most destructive diseases causing significant yield losses. During 2017–18 twenty six pre-release cultures developed at Agricultural Research station Nellore were screened against leaf blast and bacterial leaf under field conditions. Xanthomonas oryzae pv oryaze inoculated through leaf clipping method. Mangnapor the oryzae inoculated by spraying spore suspension. Among them one culture NLR 3606 was identified as moderately resistant to bacterial leaf blight, nine cultures; NLR,3610, 3609, 3605, 3604, 3616, 3611, 3566, 3564 and 3354 were identified as moderately susceptible to the disease. Same set of cultures were cultures screened against leaf blast under artificial ephiphytotic conditions in Uniform Blast nursery (UBN).Out of 26 cultures one culture NLR3603 was identified as moderately resistant to leaf blast, twenty cultures; NLR3617, 3610, 3609, 3605, 3612, 3613, 3604, 3608, 3615, 3606, 3611, 3607, 3561,3564, 3562, 3559, 3567, 3552, 3568, 3560 were identified as moderately susceptible.
